Weather and Climate

Italy has a Mediterranean climate with cool winters and hot summers. The temperatures can vary with lows of 2°C in January to the highs of 30°C in July and August. There is little or no rainfall in the warmer months but November and December can bring showers.

Safety and Support

Italy is a safe destination to visit, however, as a popular tourist destination, make sure to stay mindful, especially in bustling areas. Keep your bag close to you and secure by carrying it in front of you.  Walking will also be one of your main forms of transport so make sure to wear comfortable shoes everyday and never walk alone in unfamiliar or uncrowded places.

Italy Travel Requirements

  • Passport: A valid passport with at least three months validity remaining after your departure date. It should also have two blank pages for the entry stamp. 
  • Visa: A visa is not required for stays under 90 days. However, if you’re staying longer, you may need a visa, such as a Schengen visa. 
  • Internship Visa: Non-EU citizens must apply for an internship visa at the Italian embassy in their country of residence. The visa is required for internships that are at least three months long but no more than 12 months. The visa application requires a training project, proof of economic support, medical insurance, and other documents.
