At Roots, we work on behalf of nonprofits, NGOs, and startups to find talented interns to join their teams, creating a unique learning experience of students. By working directly with decision makers, interns are given the opportunity to design and implement strategies and experience the real-world application of their skills and studies. The bonus is, they join purpose-driven organizations that are adding great value towards community development, conservation efforts, societal advancement, or local and green economies on a grassroots level.
We partner with universities in sharing our internship/co-op programs that are customized to students’ academic focus area, requirements, and desired learning outcomes. Not only is this a professional opportunity to gain transferable skills and add to their resume, but a chance to experience what it’s like to live and work abroad.
“Roots Interns has been a valued educational partner of the Northeastern Co-op Program for many years. Their exceptional and responsive student support, transformative curriculum and the careful matching process between student and employer really sets them apart. For our students, a Roots internship is never simply a job, but an invitation to join a community committed to building meaningful connections that leads to greater cross-cultural understanding and lasting relationships.” – Jonathan Andrews, Northeastern University, Senior Co-op Coordinator

Research & Thesis Internships
We often host students who are doing their research and/or thesis projects, and can tailor-make these projects to fully suit their individual needs. These graduation internships can involve theory-based research or field-based research – or a combination of both. Students will be part of a small, impact-driven organization and can be sure that their research will contribute to a worthwhile cause in a substantial way.
Faculty-led Trips
We also facilitate impact-driven faculty-led trips. These are entirely tailor-made to suit the academic focus and desired learning outcomes of the students. No matter the program, they’re all focused on immersing students in sustainable development work, and inspiring them to become global citizens.
