Internships with the Cirenas

CIRENAS (Centro de Investigación de Recursos Naturales y Sociales) is a nonprofit focused on environmental conservation founded in 2008. Based on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, they run research, education, and community outreach programs from their 4,700 acre campus.

This campus serves as a space for field research and an educational tool for environmental conservation. It has a number of permaculture systems in development for visitors and volunteers to contribute to and learn from. Their goal is to create connections between people and the environment that might foster a cultural shift towards more sustainable lifestyles and practices.

Conservation Research Internship, Costa Rica

The internship was an amazing experience. Roots and the nonprofit were both very well-organized; it was clear they had put a lot of effort into ensuring that all the necessary arrangements were in place prior to my arrival, which made the transition into my role very smooth. The environment was also unbelievably beautiful and it was wonderful to connect with all the people I got to work with.
