During my time at the project, I gained hands-on experience in practical fieldwork like data collection and permaculture projects, while also exploring creative tasks such as social media content creation and hosting group visits. When my supervisor was away, I took on a leadership role, managing presentations and organizing schedules for visiting students, which was a new but rewarding challenge. Living in an isolated location pushed me to find productive ways to spend my free time, connect with colleagues in a new language, and take initiative on creative projects, like reusing beach plastic for art and campus signage. What an amazing and beautiful three months in Costa Rica. The staff became like family! They were all so kind and supportive. The location is stunning and there is so much wildlife. The turtle program was incredible and I got to be involved in beach monitoring, baby turtle releases, exhumations, and permaculture activities. I loved the responsibilities and learning more about how to look after the turtles. It was a great feeling to be fully responsible for them and so saving hundreds of eggs every day and getting to release the baby turtles was truly inspiring. I already want to...What an amazing and beautiful three months in Costa Rica. The staff became like family! They were all so kind and supportive. The internship was an amazing experience. Roots and the nonprofit were both very well-organized; it was clear they had put a lot of effort into ensuring that all the necessary arrangements were in place prior to my arrival, which made the transition into my role very smooth. The environment was also unbelievably beautiful and it was wonderful to connect with all the people I got to work with. The internship was an amazing experience.
